Joan Heffernan, M.A., MBA, Psy.D.
Dr. Heffernan received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (recently renamed William James College), and her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University. She has extensive clinical and psychological assessment experience with clients ranging from preschool through all ages of adulthood. In addition to serving in private practice, Dr. Heffernan has worked as a school psychologist and has taught Lifespan Development and various other psychology courses at the college level. She is an experienced clinician, working with individuals, couples and families in a wide range of treatment areas, including couples counseling, family therapy, anxiety, depression, mood regulation, substance abuse prevention and recovery, trauma recovery, grief and loss, and career development. Prior to her psychology career, Dr. Heffernan was a business executive in both Fortune 500 and non-profit organizations. Dr. Heffernan’s specialties include child and adult ADHD, stress management, learning disabilities, teen development, parenting, clinical hypnotherapy, mindfulness and work-life balance.
