Monica Kvas, LMHC
Ms. Kvas completed her education and training at the University of Ottawa in Canada and Chaminade University of Honolulu. Ms. Kvas obtained a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has worked with clients ranging in age from children, adolescents and adults. Her clinical background extends to a wide range of patient populations and disorders including: Mood disorders such as Anxiety and Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Chronic and Complex PTSD, Grief and Traumatic Grief, and ADHD.
Ms. Kvas has worked in a residential treatment facility providing therapy to adolescents with extensive trauma histories and emotional difficulties. She has also worked in school settings and provided in-home therapy to at-risk youth and their families. Most recently, Ms. Kvas has worked in private practice in Victoria, Canada treating clients with various mental health disorders.
Some of Ms. Kvas’s clinical interests include: anxiety and depression in children and adolescents, attachment patterns, the long-term effects of stress and trauma, sports psychology, life coaching, the role of spirituality in mental health, family systems and adjustment issues in children post-divorce. Ms. Kvas uses a variety of clinical modalities and skills, depending on the individual and diagnosis. She utilizes mindfulness, relaxation, stress management techniques, expressive therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems therapy, play therapy, and client-centered therapy.
